[Quite Lengthy] Glimpse of Life Lately

Summer thus far – wow, I’m lovin’ it! Camping, canoeing, strawberries, daisies, painting, tons of pictures, working, physchology at Sips ;), butchering, auctions, apologetics drama, visits to grandparents, berries, and everything in between… So, if you don’t want to scroll through a long rambling account of random things about my life lately, well then read no further. 😉

Let my life song sing to You…

I heard this song on the radio last week and it always reminds me anew how every single aspect of our life is reflecting something. Is my life singing of God’s glory, or is just all about me? Somehow, we have to figure out the balance of embracing the not-so-good moments (instead of running away from them) and dancing in the happy celebratory times. If you figure it out, let me know what you discover. :DI always knew I needed to learn how to juggle. 😉

Every time I think of canoe trips in the boonies of Barryville, NY and all the splendid times talking & laughing around the campfire & singing on the river & sittin’ around eating yummy food… oh I smile. 😀 (And smile some more and wish we could do it all over again)

It was cooooold that morning. And I pretty much really like these people! 😀 And the guys cooked all weekend – cheers!!

The usual [typical] daisy craze is still going on. 😀 And I’m slightly obsessed with strawberries right now too. :p Sadly, the season for both has wound down. “Gotta enjoy it while it lasts!” I told Mom last week.

[Insert dorky picture of strawberry jam making. This was right when it was at a full rolling boil and I was all like, “AHHH! It’s splattering me! And there’s still thirty seconds to go!” while trying to stand 2 feet away so I wouldn’t get burned and attempting to keep on stirring. And then I look up and Jesse’s taking a picture. :p Not to mention laughing!]

 

They survived the drive… and thanks to Friendly Meadows not having Friday’s berries in yet, some new roads were traveled and I now have a new Amish friend named Mattie, who had never heard of chocolate covered strawberries before. *gasp* She has been educated now!!! Wish I had a picture of the huge flat of berries that rode in the back seat for 2 miles. Being neighborly is so fun!

And then there are the daisies 😀 Daisy fields make great praying fields as well.

 

There are Thursdays that start out in a not-so-nice fashion. Let’s just say the day began quite abruptly by jolting awake and realizing it was 7:23 am. Which is a perfectly fine time to wake up normally, but not when you’re supposed to be at work in seven minutes. Horrible, awful, helpless feeling. Needless to say, that was the fastest waking up I’ve done in a long time! Despite the not-so-nice beginning, it ended in a much nicer fashion. We went outside after dark to catch fireflies and take pictures… Well, all my moon picture attempts all failed and Rose couldn’t capture any fireflies to put in the little glass beaded jar. So we laid on our backs on the dewy grass and gazed up at the starry sky and talked sister talk. (Never mind the huge grass stain and monstrous mosquito bites) Twas lovely, it was.

I’ve also decided that the life of a butcher just isn’t for me… (But it’s not as bad as I used to think it was. Once in awhile is okay, but just not all the time :p). Our bee-keeper friend Brian has connections with a guy who raises deer (legally, of course) and sometimes we get a couple of them for meat.

Annnnnd our youth group did a fundraiser lunch stand at Glen & Gloria’s auction 😀

“What is Truth? Conversations in a Coffee Shop” apologetics drama last Sunday evening. To which I took the camera and not the memory card, and am still kicking myself about. 😦 😦 Thanks to Shelly for thoughtfully giving me copies of 2 pictures she took!

And I could go on & on and post a hundred more pictures, but I really should stop somewhere! God is good. All the time. 😀
