You know what I love about God?
I love how He is able to handle me. 🙂 Yeah, you read that right! I love how God is so capable, dependable, steady, and trustworthy, that He is perfectly able to handle anything I throw His way. When I struggle to surrender and trust Him, He doesn’t give up on me. When I fail and fall on my face, He always picks me back up. When I question His ways, He doesn’t change them, but simply gives me grace and strength. When I am weak, His power is made perfect in me. When I weep, He catches my tears. He gives me joy that’s unspeakable. When I get lost and confused, He comes to the rescue and guides me in the right direction. It amazes me – our sovereign, almighty God is also right here beside me. He is more than able to take care of me. Of you, too.
Stepping back and looking at how much God has done for me, it makes me feel so small and unworthy. I, sinful and fallen, didn’t deserve the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. I did nothing to deserve His unconditional love. There’s nothing I can do to ever repay my Heavenly Father, for it was a beautiful free gift.Thank You Jesus! However, I have been thinking of what I can give back to Him. My love, my gifts and talents, my life. After all Jesus has done for me, surely I can honor and glorify Him with my life.
I can praise Him with uplifted hands and voice, when I’m driving my daily route to work. I can connect with Him through tears of brokenness in the shower. I can honor Him when I smile at grumpy old ladies who come into Sips. I can love Him by serving and caring for the people around me. I can honor Him by using the abilities and talents I have, and then giving Him all the glory. When life is frustrating and confusing, I can still testify to His goodness by trusting Him in everything. I might even bring a smile at His face when I am waltzing around to happy music (and doing the dishes)! It’s sobering to ask myself the question: Am I truly honoring & glorifying my Father in everything I do and say and think?
It’s not much, but all I have to offer is myself. Little ol’ me. May God be honored and glorified!!
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” -I Corinthians 6:19-20
